Chinese Premier visits Shannon and the West of Ireland - visit will deepen relationships

China’s Premier Li Keqiang and his wife, Professor Cheng Hong, accompanied by a number of other Chinese ministers arrived in Shannon on May 17 for a two day visit, and spent most of their time in Clare and the West of Ireland. China's Premier Li Keqiang and his wife visit Garveys Farm in County Clare

The visit came as Ireland and China signed a diplomatic visa waiver agreement and agreed on greater agricultural co-operation between both countries. A large media contingent travelled to Ireland with Mr. Li to cover the visit, bringing the story of the visit back to millions of people in China.

The visit provided a great opportunity to showcase Ireland to a wide Chinese audience as a location for investment, tourism and high quality food production and the expectation is that the visit will result in greater trade co-operation and the deepening of China-Ireland relations.
